If you’ve been following along over on Instagram then you’ve probably seen some of the fun activities that we have been up to this week. It’s been all about LOVE over here and we’ve had lots of fun sorting candy hearts, playing with our play dough mats, searching for Valentine’s themed treasures, and building with puzzle blocks. The best part? These activities require little prep time and lots of fun play time. I’m so excited to share the printable files for these activities with you below. Enjoy!
Activity #1: Valentine’s Day Puzzle Blocks
Block Puzzle Assembly Instructions:
1 | Gather Supplies Needed: Scissors, Tape, Mega Blocks, & a Laminator (Optional)
2 | Print the Block Puzzle PDF (You can download the file below)
3 | Optional: Laminate the printed pages for added durability
4 | Cut out the puzzle pieces
5 | Put together the appropriate sized blocks in the shape of the puzzle and attach the pieces with tape
6 | Invite your little one to build with the blocks
Activity #2: Candy Heart sorting
Candy Sorting Assembly Instructions:
1 | Gather Supplies Needed: Conversation Hearts in a small bowl & Candy Sorting Printable
2 | Print the Candy Sorting PDF (You can download the file below)
3 | Optional: Laminate the printed pages for added durability
4 | Invite your little one to sort the candy in the bowl to the coordinating colored hearts
activity #3: Play dough Mats
Play Dough Mat Assembly Instructions:
1 | Gather Supplies Needed: Play Dough, Cookie Cutters & Rollins Pin (Optional)
2 | Print the Valentine’s Play Dough Mat PDF (You can download the file below)
3 | Optional: Laminate the printed pages for added durability
4 | Invite your little one to trace the heart & letters with Play Dough pieces
Activity #4: Valentine’s Sensory Treasure Hunt
Sensory Treasure Hunt Assembly Instructions:
1 | Gather Supplies Needed: Bin or basket to put sensory items in, Scissors, any Valentine’s themed objects you can find around your house (I used items that I found at my local craft store including crinkled paper, pipe cleaners, necklaces, heart shaped cookie cutters, felt hearts, pink & red pom poms, etc.)
2 | Print the Valentine’s Look and Find PDF (You can download the file below)
3 | Optional: Laminate the printed pages for added durability
4 | Cut out the squares with scissors and place them in your bin that’s been filled with your sensory objects
5 | Invite your little one to explore the basket. You can also use the sheet with the objects on them to point to a particular item (ex: the bumblebee) and have your child pull out the coordinating card. There are so many ways to play with this bin!
