“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18, NIV
Prayer is an incredible gift and a very important weapon in fighting the spiritual battle we are in. It helps us fix our eyes on Jesus and what matters to Him. Through prayer we get to partner with God and ask Him to make our hearts more like His.
When we pray we are reminded that we can’t fight in our own strength and ultimately that we are not God It’s God who does the work, not us. Paul writes in Ephesians 6:10, “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might put on the full armor of God.” Notice he didn’t say ‘in your own strength’ put on the Armor of God. That is good news! We don’t have to muster up the strength — Christ will carry us and empower us. It’s His strength, not ours. Prayer reminds us of our need for Jesus and that is the power of the Holy Spirit at work , not us.
Prayer is talking and listening to God. It’s a relationship. Prayer changes our heart as we hand over control and trust that God will show up and be faithful to His promises. Not my will, but your will be done.
Today’s activity is a fun way to end your study on the Armor of God and talk about the importance and power of prayer.
