Ready to get crystal clear on what a life-giving home looks like for your family?

*I was generously given this series of books from Bible Belles in exchange for an honest review. I only share things that I truly love and think you will too

Did you ever have tea parties growing up? I was obsessed with them. For Christmas one year I was gifted a small vintage tea set that was adorned with the most gorgeous hand painted roses. I loved inviting my teddy bears, dolls, and any of my wonderful siblings who would willingly attend my frequent tea parties. I rarely served anything but water, but I didn’t care. In my mind it was the fanciest, most wonderful thing in the world.

Now that I’m a mama, I pull a lot of ideas from little memories from my childhood to create special time with my girls. Yesterday it rained all day long, so in an attempt to add a little sunshine to our dreary day I pulled out our tea set and put together a super easy mommy & me tea party. Sometimes it’s the spontaneous things that make the sweetest memories. I thought I would share with you how I put it all together in case you want to surprise your kiddo(s) with a tea party sometime soon!

Step One: Decorate Your Table

Set the stage for your tea party with a few decorations. You don’t have to do much to make your table feel special. Keep it simple. Get creative and use what you have around your house! I used left over wrapping paper to fancy up our table and created confetti with colorful cardstock.

Since our tea party was themed around our favorite Bible Belle books I stacked them up in the center of our table and placed a vase of faux flowers to create the centerpiece. PS: If you don’t have a tea set, use mugs!

Step Two: Serve a Special Snack

When choosing snacks for your tea party get creative with what you already have on hand. As a general rule of thumb, mini is always better. Maybe I’m the only one who feels this way, but somehow small finger foods feel fancier. Only have ingredients for peanut butter and jelly? Cut your sandwiches in small squares or use a cookie cutter to make a fun shape. You’d be surprised how excited your kids will get simply by putting normal foods on fancy plates.

We made Pumpkin Gingerbread mini muffins for breakfast and I thought they would be the perfect little treat for our tea party. I simply put them on a cake stand and served them with fresh berries. I also mixed up a pitcher of pink lemonade to use as our ‘tea’.

When Libby woke up from her nap, she didn’t even skip a beat and joined the party right away. You could tell that she was so proud that she was included. Plus she got to stuff her face with strawberries and that’s pretty much her favorite thing in the entire world.

Step Three: Enjoy a Simple Activity Together

After you’ve finished your special treats it’s always fun to enjoy an activity together. You could build with blocks, read, or work on an art project. Pick a few things your child really enjoys, sit down, and enjoy being together.

After we finished up our snacks and colored to our hearts content, we continued the party in the living room with our new favorite book series —Bible Belles.

If you haven’t heard of these amazing books, you must add them to your bookshelf ASAP. The Bible Belles series highlights the stories of five superhero women of the Bible. Together, the Bible Belles show young girls how to make a different kind of noise by using their unique voice to make a lasting mark in this world. I’m absolutely in love with the message and mission behind these books.

I don’t know about your kiddos, but my girls are in love with all things princess. I’m pretty sure they can name every single Disney princess out there. One of my favorite parts about Bible Belles is that they help young girls get just as excited about Biblical women as they are about princesses. Powerful role models who teach my girls about bravery, loyalty, prayer, and patience? Yes, please!

Bridgett loves looking at the pictures and I honestly can’t blame her because they are so beautifully illustrated!

In addition to the books and devotionals that are available, the Bible Belles website has so many great FREE printable resources to help parents and their little Belles enjoy simple activities, engage in meaningful conversation, and memorize scripture together.

These books would make such a great birthday or Christmas present for the little girls in your life! We loved pairing them with our tea party, but they truly are wonderful to read anytime. Bridgett has already asked me when we can have another Bible Belles party.

After seeing how simple it was to put together an easy mommy & me tea party, I hope you’ll give it a try! I’m so excited to have another tea party with the girls, but even more importantly I really can’t wait to continue to learn from the Bible Belles. Happy memory making!
