Want to add some pizzazz to your play dough creations? This easy DIY Flower Pot Play Dough Kit is perfect for kids of all ages and so easy to put together. This kit encourages open ended play and imagination as kids build and decorate with the supplies in the box. It would also make the perfect birthday gift for the budding artist in your life.
I’m always looking for fun ways to add a little pizzazz to tried and true activities. Especially if they are simple and require little to no prep on my part. Play dough is such an easy and fun way to engage with your kiddos. It can get a little messy and I must admit it does make me cringe when color mixing happens (anyone else?!), but overall it’s a fairly simple activity that we pull out often. This past fall we put together a seasonal play dough box and it was a huge hit. Since my girls have become a little play dough obsessed over the past couple of weeks, I wanted to create something similar for spring and summer. This Flower Pot Play Dough Kit has been well loved already and I’m sure it will make an appearance often throughout the summer.
I love how play dough kits encourage open ended play. It’s always so amazing to me to see what kids come up with when they’re given a few materials and are encouraged to let their imagination run wild.

One of the best parts about this play dough kit is that it’s so simple to put together. Just add the items to your box and you’re ready to play!
When the girls play with play dough I like to roll out a sheet of white paper on the table for easy cleanup. Plus, it actually ends up turning into two activities because they love to draw on the paper with crayons after they are finished with play dough.
Wouldn’t this play dough kit be such a fun birthday gift, an easy play date idea, and the best indoor activity for a hot summer afternoon? So many possibilities!
If you’re looking for a gorgeous book to pair with your flower pot play dough box we absolutely adore this one from Julia Rothman. Actually, let’s be honest we love all of her books.
Aren’t the illustrations absolutely gorgeous? It was fun to try to match up the flowers with the ones in the book.
Remember how I told you that one of my favorite parts of play dough kits are how they spark imagination and creativity? After we played flower shop, we started making ice cream cones with flower sprinkles. So fun and creative!
