As a mama there’s not much better than spending time outdoors with your kiddos. Playing outside and getting some fresh air is an essential key to staying sane around here. That’s why I’m so excited about the darling activity from this weeks Camp Counselor, Keri. Your kiddos are going to love creating, exploring, and pretending with these adorable DIY Binoculars.
Hi friends! Keri here. Throughout our summer break, we have loved finding fun activities and crafts to make together. Recently, we made binoculars out of toilet paper rolls and it was a hit! One of our favorite vacations is to go camping as a family. There is something refreshing and relaxing about nature and we always have the best memories together. Our camping trips always include lots of hiking and exploring. My kids have some toy binoculars, but we love being creative, so we had a lot of fun pretending to be camping with these Easy DIY Binoculars!
Whenever I can come up with a craft that is easy and includes supplies we already have, it is a huge win! This craft covers both of those requirements!
Supplies Needed:
- 2 Empty Toilet Paper Rolls per Child
- Ribbon or String
- Glue or Tape
- Paint, Crayons, or Markers
Directions:
Glue two toilet paper rolls together.
We used a hot glue gun.
Set out paint, crayons, or markers.
We decided to paint these as my kids love to paint. To make things easier, i set out a blank sheet of paper for the binoculars to sit on as they painted. Each child got a plate with paint colors, water cup to rinse, and towel if needed.
Let the binoculars dry.
We did the craft in the morning and I told the kids that after rest time, they would be ready to use!
Add string or ribbon.
You can either punch a hole in each toilet paper roll to thread the string through or glue/tape it to the inside.
Have fun playing with your new binoculars!
The kids had so much fun heading outside when we were finished and exploring the backyard with the binoculars. We looked for different birds, bugs, and played pretend as well.
I hope you have fun making binoculars together! All three of my kids loved this activity and it has been fun seeing them continue to play and explore with their binoculars.
Isn’t this craft so much fun? We absolutely loved the idea that we just had to make a pair of our own!
