You're One in a Melon DIY Handprint Watermelon Card Tutorial with FREE printable by The Littles & MeThere’s not much more that makes me happier than flip flops, swimsuits and the smell of freshly cut grass on a hot summer day. Pair that with a big slice of watermelon and you’ve got the recipe for the best day ever. Since we’re loving all things watermelon these days (you might remember the Easter eggs we turned into watermelon over on Instagram) we decided to make some cute cards to send for Mother’s Day. These DIY Watermelon Handprint Cards are the perfect way brighten someone’s day and tell them they are one in a melon. Grab some paint, paper and your little one’s hand and let’s get crafting!

DIY Watermelon Handprint Card

You’ll Need:

  • Printed “You’re One in a Melon” PDF (Download it for FREE at the end of this post)
  • Cardstock/Construction Paper in the color of your choice
  • Paint (For the watermelon, rind & seeds)
  • Paintbrushes
  • Scissors
  • Gluestick

How to make it:

Once you’ve gathered your supplies, squirt a small amount of paint onto a plate. We used pink paint, but you could use red if you’d like! Use a paintbrush to paint a layer of paint onto your little one’s hand.

You're One in a Melon DIY Watermelon Handprint Card Tutorial with FREE printable by The Littles & MeHelp your little one press their hand onto the piece of paper just below where it says “You’re One in a Melon.” Repeat this process for each card you are making.

Once you have all of your handprints stamped, use green paint to paint on the rind at the bottom of the handprint. Look at those cute little hands just waiting on some seeds!

Use scissors to cut around the rectangle and set aside to dry. You should probably turn on some music and have a little dance party with your littles while you’re waiting on these to dry. 🙂

You can even pull out some crayons and let your little one add a bit of cheer to the inside of the card. Hooray!

You're One in a Melon DIY Watermelon Handprint Card Tutorial with FREE printable by The Littles & MeI love these cards because you can use them for so many different occasions. They’re perfect for a birthday greeting, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or even to spread a little bit of watermelon cheer just because. What special person will you be sending one of these to? Be sure to download your free printable at the bottom of this post. Happy card making!

Hey, we love this craft so much. I try and help come up with crafts for families in the hospital and we chose this one to do for #nationalwatermelonday. Thank you so much. I was wondering if you have any ideas for #nationalwaffleday coming up on August 25th I believe for this year that could also be a cute footprint craft? I wanted to use the saying “I love you a waffle lot”. I would love to maybe collaborate and brainstorm and I could always share with a link to your craft when I’m sharing the event. Would love to connect and thanks for sharing this cute craft. We are tweaking just a bit and doing footprints rather than hands because of being little babies. I plan to do some of this for homeschooling time as well so thank you again.

Hey Chelsea! Hooray! Thank you so much for letting me know. I love that you’re using this printable this way! I hadn’t planned anything for national waffle day, but it sounds so fun. I’d love to create something. Shoot me an email if you’re still interested hello@thelittlesandme.com
