Here’s what you’ll need to make a Basketball Fruit Pizza:
- Your favorite sugar cookie dough for the base of the pizza. You can use pre-made, a box mix (we love this one), homemade (this recipe is a great one), or the BEST homemade gluten free recipe that I’m sharing below. Seriously don’t knock it until you try it. It’s made with Almond Flour and SO delicious!
- Your favorite cream cheese frosting recipe (We have used this one before or you can use the recipe I’m sharing below that uses Coconut Sugar)
- Blueberries
- Mandarin Orange Slices (or fresh peach slices would also work great!)
- Parchment Paper (or a Silpat Mat)
- Baking Sheet
The best part about this Basketball Fruit Pizza is that you can customize it to fit your families dietary needs. I can’t wait to try it again with fresh peaches this summer!
The first step is to make your dough (I’m sharing the recipe we used towards the bottom of this post). After your dough is mixed, roll it in a ball and transfer it to your baking sheet that’s covered with parchment paper. Using your hands or a rolling pin, shape the dough to form a circle (about 1/2″ thick) and pop your pan in the oven. Bake your dough according to the recipe you’re using.
Once your dough is golden brown remove the pan from the oven and let it cool for 20-30 minutes before frosting.
After it has completely cooled, use a knife to frost your cookie crust with the cream cheese frosting of your choice (I’m sharing our recipe below).
Now comes the fun part! Use the blueberries and oranges to create the basketball. This is the perfect treat to make with kids and it’s a great way to get your family in the kitchen together.
So fun, right?! Wouldn’t it be perfect for March Madness, a Basketball themed Birthday party, or a just because surprise for family night?
