Hooray for all things green and happy just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! I don’t know about you, but green and rainbow everything have been exploding all over my Pinterest and Instagram feeds and it is making me oh so happy! You may have noticed that puppets have been all the rage over here which is why this 5 Little Shamrocks craft and fingerplay has been a major WIN this week. I’m all for simple crafts and activities these days and these adorable little shamrocks paired with a fun rhyme is just that. It would be the perfect addition to your St. Patrick’s Day festivities! Aren’t they the cutest?
5 Little Shamrocks Craft and Fingerplay
Supplies You’ll Need:
Printed Template (Free download at the bottom of this post)
Green Construction Paper
Googly Eyes
Paper Straws or Popsicle Sticks
Glue
Pencil/Marker
Scissors
Instructions:
1 | Trace the Shamrock template (5 times) onto a piece of green construction paper and cut out the shamrocks
2 | Glue on googly eyes and draw on a mouth*
3 | Glue each Shamrock to a paper straw or popsicle stick
4 | Enjoy playing with your Shamrock puppets using the included fingerplay!
*Optional: You can add ribbon, hair or anything else you’d like to dress up your Shamrocks!
After we acted out the fingerplay several times, B loved making different voices for each Shamrock and pretended that they were talking to each other. Their personalities really came out and in case you are wondering they really are the best of friends. Their eyes and mouths keep cracking me up. Easy peasy and oh so fun!
